The Definition of Marching Band
Marching Band is a group of people who play one or several songs using
a combination of musical instruments (wind instrument, percussion, and instrument pit) together.
The difference between Marching Band and Drum Band
In drum band, the number of percussion is more dominant.Percussions include: snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, triangles, toms, etc.Drum bands are often used in official events, while marching bands aremore commonly used in entertainment events.

Color Guard
The
color guard doesn’t only use the flag as a tool it plays, but uses other
objects such as umbrellas, shawls, rifles, etc. The tool used to perform
depends on the choreography to support the performance. However, in general
color guard using flags. The Marching Band is led by a mayoret and also a field
commander. In general, the mayoret is used in parade events. The Mayoret is in
charge of starting the parade and arranging the ranks. Field Commander task’s
is leading the show, starting the song and setting the tempo of the song as a
musical director.
Each instrument in marching band complete each other and have their
own uniqueness.
History
The drum band appear from an ancient tradition used to accompany celebrations
or festivals. Over time, evolved into more structured in the military. At first the
drum bands were only used in
military and religious ceremonies that were packaged in a show. In many cultures,
band drums are
used as war music as well as military music. It is used to increase the spirit of troops
when going to war
The band's drum music is used as a sign to go forward or back in battle.
As the times progressed,
the drum band innovated into a marching band. And this activity expand
its function as entertainment.
